Early July 2006

This is the most heavily blogged month in Prafterdotcom history. Coincidentally, it also hosts the rise of the Prafterdotcom towers... Check out the 2006 Ojai trip and various images from our store rooms.

Thursday July 6th, 2006--More Randoms

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whoa, the 4th was fun. So much fun that I think the whole county is still tired from it two days later. The highways are not crowded, there's almost no one in my building at Scripps, and it was relatively uncrowded surfing at Scripps this morning despite the best waves we've had in a couple weeks. I have a lot of new photos to post including our Ojai trip two weekends ago and photos from the 4th and photos from Nicole's birthday party last night (mellow, but fun).

And now for something completely different:

An award I won for playing the "Stock Market Game" in High School. Just between you and I, my team won because of the stock I chose (of course). But here's a story that may or may not be true--I chose the stock because it was called, "HIPAT." Everyone laughed at me, but I stuck with my choice and we won.

Here's my Brookie getting checking in at the airport two months ago with a stuffed lizard in her bag.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here is the prafterdotcom headquarters. The building to the right is a museum for vintage surfboards and skateboards. The building on the lower right houses our salt water wave pool. That leaves the building on the left where the prafterdotcom staff works for well above minimum wage with full benefits that extend to all employee's spouses, including same sex civil unions.

So, you might think to yourself, "well with so much staff, prafterdotcom should be putting out more material, right?" and you might be correct in thinking this to yourself. However, the staff is usually perusing the vintage skateboard/surfboard museum or surfing in the salt water wave pool to do any work. This is all possible due to a freakin' gigantic grant from the all powerful Multi-National Fake Meat Conglomerate (MNFMC) like Tofurkey (a registered trademark).

Tuesday July 4th, 2006--Happy B'day U.S.A

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not looking so good on this birthday, hopefully she'll have a natural make-over for next year's birthday (her 231st) when all those right-wing nuts are voted out and we can get down to important business like finding Osama... oh yeah, didn't you hear? BushCo. disbanded the C.I.A group dedicated to finding him:

The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama bin Laden became a household name and bolstered its ranks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice "dead or alive."

Maybe we're all just mis-reading the situation, I mean, would they do this? Isn't this just insane or are they really just concerned with dudes kissing dudes and burning the flag?

Like I said earlier, hopefully, the next one will be better.

Here's something else I saw today, Kids Against Bush:

Good stuff with kids that don't say, "like" every other word.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh good, I almost forgot to post this image someone sent me... Salty Mike Soens and Shannon's wedding engagement ad from what looks like the Cape May County Herald or some other south Jersey puplication. Funny enough, you can also see some other south Jersey people I went to high school with on that page. To whoever sent me this, sorry, but I just realized I had it today.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh ok, maybe it was Johnny Stunts that sent me that photo because this one was right next to it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, today will be spent "straight up chillin'" at our house in La Jolla because if we leave we won't find a parking space until after midnight. Gimp made us a mix of Classic Rock Music to remind us of being back in South Jersey. We have corn, we have salsa, we have chips, we have fake meat products, and now we're waiting for our friends to come down and join us for some, "straight up chillin'". The ocean water is warm, the weather man called for rain, but it's sunny and hot and it's the 4th! We all wish we were back in Jersey, but I am wearing my New Jersey shirt from Ryan and Cristen's wedding to remind me of my roots. To everyone back east, happy 4th from the prafterdotcom staff.

Saturday July 1st, 2006--

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a day of cleaning up my messes... I have several paintings I need to finish (they all stink) and I have tons of photos I need to sort through and stick in a book (the good ones). I got some of those two things done today and I found a whole bunch of slides from Ryan and Cristen's wedding and from a trip to San Francisco. Here's some of them:

Ryan and Cristen got married. This slide is actually very sharp, but the scan doesn't look so hot.

The scans aren't the greatest and some of these slides had mold on them before the photo was taken, which leaves dots all over the photo. So, I had to tweak some of the images a little to get rid of the mold spots:

Here's some other randoms:
