Thursday September 28th, 2006--Where have we been?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This may have been the longest absence between postings that prafterdotcom has ever had. We are sorry.
Now, back to the news...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The prafterdotcom staff is on vacation--perhaps a permanent vacation, so it is just I, your lowly web editor that is left to provide you insight to the world. So, what is going on in my world?
Well, there was a lot of good work accomplished back in New Jersey--plenty of futuristic science like they did back in the day.
For real, I was in Princeton, NJ doing some more fancy lab work. I had a couple days down in my old hometown of Avalon where I saw a lot of my great family and friends and I even got some hurricane-generated waves (what a score). The next time I go back I'll have a video camera and there'll be fun video to watch on the internets!
One more thing, my good, good friends Chris and Emily got married--they are some cute kids. Lots of photos to come (thanks to Ryan Miller loaning me his camera for the night--I took a lot of film photos that night, but that'll be months before I can get them scanned, etc.).
I can reveal a few things about this section of my New Jersey trip: Matty Pellini is a generous son-of-a-sailor (let's just put all the Pellinis in there while we're at it), sleeping on a cold laboratory floor is not as bad as it might seem (thanks to the sleeping pads provided by SWS), there really are a lot of people that say "wooter" for water back in NJ, John DiGenni may be the best dancer of all time, but Ryan Miller is right up there with him, my little sister Lauren isn't really that little any more (in fact she just turned 15 yesterday), the other sisters Ashley and Lindsay are also becoming old with the weddings and the jobs with benefits, I really love September in New Jersey, Emily Lattimore loves metal, and more.
There will be more later, but (crazy as it may seem) I got back to CA yesterday and I'm driving to Arizona in about an hour. Maybe I'll have some internets over there, but I don't know.
My friend Scott Soens (who's now in Oz) had an interview recently published in Garden State Surf magazine:
Also, Brian Herron has the 1st part of a series of stories published here:

Holy.... I just saw one of the eeriest (is that spelled right?) videos on the news about some Halliburton employees driving through Iraq. Click here.

Wednesday September 13th, 2006--
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm leaving tomorrow, but I saw this great You Tube advertisement against Virginia U.S. Senator George Allen (a racist Republican who was very supportive of the Iraq War) that I had to post. Watch the ad and then read some more about Allen's challenger, Democrat Jim Webb who actually has fought in a war (and is against the Iraq War) here. Not that it matters, but Webb was in Reagan's cabinet, so he's no partisan.
Donate to any state or Federal campaign at Act Blue (just $5 here or $10 there can make a difference). There's no reason to support candidates in other states too.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, don't forget to check out the Brendan Borek event photos
Yes, that is my shadow while I was taking the picture. For some reason I didn't mind it, but now it annoys me.
If you want to print any of the photos from these events, contact me and I'll provide a link to where you can get the full image size printed on-line (for cheap, I think). I would provide a link here, but there might be some weirdos out there...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been a few days and it'll be a few more--I'm sorry. I (the CFO of prafterdotcom) will be travelling to New Jersey to work at Princeton University again and the whole staff has left headquarters because they are re-finishing the bowling alley and skatepark (both use hardwood flooring).
It'll be a couple of weeks (at least) with infrequent postings for that time. When I get back from NJ, I'll be back a week or so in which I'll be in an art show here in La Jolla. I guess that means I'll have to make some more "friendly" art for that show. The second week of October I'll be working with a group of people in Yosemite--taking sediment cores from Swamp Lake, which is located a little bit west of Hetch Hetchy reservoir. It's going to be a really fun scientific expedition, with mules packing in the materials and all sorts of science goodness. It should be fun--photos to come.

My friend Rodrigo is on this little island in the middle of the Indian Ocean called Cocos-Keeling Island. Here are some photos from his trip.

I told him that he needs to stop carrying his board fin first, because he'll poke someone. But he's got the sticker placement right.

Thursday September 7th, 2006--(Yet More)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeez, I can't believe that we are going to have to move this page down to the archives already... I've been adding so many images that the poor people that use dial-up interweb connections are never going to be able to download the page.
But we had to update the page because, I (the editor in chief of prafterdotcom) personally told Harry Gale that I would put his cover shot from Garden State Surf Magazine on the webpage.
Here's Harry Gale's nose-riding cover shot:

Thursday September 7th, 2006--(Even More)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know what you're thinking, you're thinking that these prafterdotcom people are awfully bi-polar about updating the website. Well, we've finally gotten the crew out of the wavepool, off the go-kart track, out of the bar (that serves smoothies and acai as well as wheat-grass shots) and they're back to work.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the immediate chores for the staff was giving "shout-outs" to our fellow net denizens (a.k.a. our friends' websites).
First off, is the website of our friend John and some other dudes called "Squirl: A Site for Collectors." As they describe it, "Squirl is a new way to organize and share your books, records, movies, comic books, stamps, coins, or practically anything else, and meet other collectors who are as passionate as you."
Click here to go to the site
One of our favorite collections is the, "Female Action Figure" collection.
The prafterdotcom staff is busily working on setting up our own collection to be posted on Squirl.info. Look out for the vintage skate and surfboard collections!

After a long, long wait, we've finally provided you a link to our friend and neighbor (he lives right next door to the prafterdotcom towers), Mike "Da Gimp" Hearon.
So, if you need some architectural photography done, Mike Hearon is your man (gimp). Just look at that photo from Oregon! Damn, that is some beautiful stuff.
So, you don't believe that he lives next door the prafterdotcom complex? Check out the evidence:
His house is the diminutive little hobbit-like dwelling to the lower left.

Thursday September 7th, 2006--(A Necessary Continued Posting)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is an interesting function with the server that hosts this website, in which you can see what search terms people used that eventually brought them to this site. Here's the top 20:

That's right! Congratulations to Scott Soens for re-taking the top spot from his brother Mike. It's very surprising to find Mike all the way down at #4--you better get Meredith on the computer doing searches for your name Salty.

Damn, when I think about what might have been... if they had made public this Spike Jonze home video of his first meeting with Al Gore during the 2000 campaign.

Tuesday September 5th, 2006--So sorry...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, Prafterdotcom fanatics! So, sorry, but it's not ready yet. Went to Coley and Christian's wedding this weekend in L.A. and I've been trying to finish all the half-finished paintings that litter the prafterdotcom headquarters. To top it all off, the staff went on strike (something about a new diving-board in the wave-pool--they already have waves, why do they need a diving-board? I guess it will be fun to have it...), and Brooke demands that I "snuggle" with her instead of working on the website. So, blame her.
Here's a teaser of what we're preparing:
Photos stolen from the cameras of prafterdotcom staff photographers Seth Stafford, John DiGenni, Scott Soens, and the editor-in-chief.

Friday September 1st, 2006--It's coming...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright people, the photos from the Borek events are coming. I'm sorry, but there hasn't been much waves out here in prafterdotcom country, so it's been really hard to get the prafterdotcom staff out of the wavepool. Not to mention that we just switched the wavepool over from fresh to salty water (salty water is more dense therefore easier to surf on than fresh water), so you can't blame them for not wanting to work. Hell, I haven't been working on this damn site and I own it.
So, settle down there, Beevus. It's all on the way. I've decided that I will not paint another picture until these photos are uploaded... which doesn't mean I'm focused solely on the website. At this moment I'm enrapped in John Dean's Conservatives Without Conscience (I can't believe this book--I'm reading it like it was the new Harry Potter. I will definitely pass this on or just buy some more copies for people like Chris and Emily and other political animals), listening to every Appleseed Cast song on shuffle, and (of course) working on these photos. I should put a photo up for now, right? Here's a funny one (think of the word, "BOOYAOOWWW!!!!!!"):
